The Art & Design School held Print Week recently where the campus community was invited to a weeklong series of events that showcased the making of prints and artists’ books. To quote the email that was sent out: “Celebrate with us the collaborative and participatory nature of these dynamic art forms. Embrace the handmade and the mechanically made. Discover how prints encompass communication, reproduction, process, social criticism, and individual imagination.”
On Monday there was a student and alumni exhibition opened entitled “10 Year Trove” that remained the entire week. On Thursday there was Wayzgoose, an end-of-summer part with demonstations by Gregory Nanney and Joseph Velasquez of Drive By Press, NYC. Christian Gfeller and Anna Hellsgård of Bongoût Gallery in Berlin came and held an open studio on Tuesday and gave a lecture on Wednesday. (View their work here.) They also held a collaboration on a book in the Print Studio on Friday and the book can be viewed from 11am-7pm during 30 September- 02 October at the NY Art Book Fair at MoMA PS1; if you get the chance, you should definitely go check it out.
